Big Penny Social

Big Penny Social är en bar och restaurang på 1 Priestley Way, Walthamstow/Waltham Forest i London.

Part of the Blackhorse Beer Mile in Walthamstow, Big Penny Social acts as a showcase for the re-launched Truman’s brewery beers, as well as a social hub that ties the local area together through community-minded events.

In a vast, airy warehouse in the industrial quarter near Blackhorse Station, the venue formerly known as Truman’s Social Club provides a welcoming setting with wooden tables and benches interspersed with greenery beneath an exposed factory ceiling. Pride of place is reserved for the long, green-tiled bar, where you can order from the establishment’s 20 draft beers on keg and cask. These include an assortment of Truman’s core offer, for example the Raw lager or the Keychange session IPA, limited editions and a curated selection of guest brews from acclaimed UK and international breweries. The bar also serves speciality coffee, wines, spirits, classic cocktails and more.

In addition to its main warehouse interior, Big Penny Social also has an outdoor beer garden that can be covered with a roof in less-than-ideal weather. In addition, there are workspaces for hire above the main floor, with the benefit of being able to pop downstairs for a pint straight after you’re done. Group bookings of Big Penny Social for up to 30 people are also available, and the entire venue can also be hired for events such as conferences and weddings.

Big Penny Social also puts on its own events, including live music, fairs, film screenings, sports broadcasts, exhibitions and more. Thanks to its community-led programming, the venue has become a mainstay of local social life.
