Queen Mary's Gardens
Queen Mary's Gardens är en plats på Chester Road, Camden Town i London.
Queen Mary's Gardens is a world-famous garden named after the wife of King George V. It's set in the vast Regents Park and home to London's biggest collection of roses. It's said that there are approximately 12,000 planted here, so it's probably no surprise to hear that amongst these thousands of roses, there are 400 different varieties.
Queen Mary's Gardens opened to the general public in 1932 when the first superintendent planted a rose garden completed two years later in 1934. These days it's a peaceful spot to take some time out from busy city life and literally smell the roses.
The park has also had its own literary debut - if you've ever seen the Disney classic 101 Dalmations, the scene when Pongo and his friend Roger spot Pongo's dream mate Perdita takes place in the romantic Queen's Garden in Regent's Park.
Although roses are the main draw of this beautiful garden, you'll also find a begonia garden, a jungle border and a Mediterranean delphinium border, which has full National Collection status. Stroll around the gardens and take in the sights and smells of what's on display, or perch on one of the many benches dotted around the park and while away the day resting and reflecting amongst nature.
