In Southwark, just a short walk from the buzz of Borough Market, Chimichurris does a solid job of bringing a slice of Argentina's grill culture to London. It's not flashy or particularly trend-driven, but that's sort of the point — this is a place built around good ingredients, straightforward cooking and a menu that knows exactly what it's doing.

Food centres on the parrilla, so meat is the main event. You'll want to ease in with a few smaller plates — empanadas are a given, and the provoleta (grilled, melting provolone) is hard to skip, before getting stuck into the bigger stuff. Steaks come in the form of rib eye and sirloin, cooked over charcoal and served without much fuss, alongside short ribs, lamb cutlets and the occasional mixed grill if you're feeling ambitious. There are seafood and veg options too, but realistically, this is one for meat-heavy ordering.

The drinks list sticks close to home, with a decent range of Argentine wines and a few classic cocktails, while desserts are predictably sweet, with plenty of dulce de leche, from crepes to alfajores. It's all fairly traditional, but that's part of the fun.

Inside, it's warm, busy and a little cramped in places, with a low-key, neighbourhood feel. Service is friendly and efficient, and while it can get lively, it never tips into full-on night-out mode.
