Jolie

Jolie är en restaurang på 459 King's Rd, Chelsea i London.

Part of the Chelsea Funhouse project, Jolie is a French-inspired salon that reimagines classic French cuisine with help from France's neighbouring countries. The interior follows the same idea, using furniture designed in-house to bring the side-by-side seating and socialising of French café culture to London. This holds especially true on the outdoor terrace, which could easily sub in for a Parisian sidewalk scene in a romcom. Meanwhile, inside, the plush sofas and glitzy decor almost pale in comparison to the neon sign inviting you to stroke the unicorn next to induce it to spew champagne. You don't usually see that in romcoms, that's for sure.

Fittingly for the café culture principles, the traditional dishes come ready for sharing, for example surf and turf tartare, burrata, barbecued cauliflower and even the cleverly designated Beefcase – smoked steak and sauce with Roquefort potato pave, roscoff shallots and watercress salad. If you're looking to splurge, you can choose from a selection of champagnes, or you can stick with the cocktails mixed with French wines and often featuring unusual garnish.

The Chelsea Funhouse as a whole encompasses three floors, with Jolie offering its French dinner experience on the ground floor. Afterwards, you can head upstairs to Chelsea Black for disco and house vibes, or retire to the "secret" World War II bar, The Bletchley, on the lower ground floor. On weekends, the house stays open late into the night, conveniently letting you have all your jolly fun in one place.
