Sketch (The Glade)

Sketch (The Glade) är en restaurang på 9 Conduit St, Mayfair i London.

It can be hard to choose the most impressive part of Sketch, the 18th century townhouse near Oxford Circus that contains four different restaurants, each aimed at a different sort of experience and all of them decorated in an eye-popping manner. The safest bet, though, is probably the Glade, Sketch's enchanted forest that guarantees it a place on more or less any list of the most beautiful restaurants in London you could come up with.

It's easy to see why as soon as you step into the space and find yourself surrounded by gorgeous wallpaper trees, complemented by a soft carpet that makes it all look like you're in a magical glade, capped off with royal flourishes of gold and velvet.

The Glade is primarily a breakfast and lunch venue during the day and a place to enjoy a cocktail in the evening, though you can get those earlier as well if you like your waffles boozy. The breakfast menu has a wide range of egg-based dishes, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, while the set lunch menu is designed "for the many, not the few" – in practice, this usually means seasonal European dishes. But regardless of when you visit or why, do go check out Sketch's futuristic space pod toilets or try to catch a glimpse of some of its other restaurants – they're all quite special.
