Launched in mid-2025, Soho Theatre Walthamstow expands one of London's top producers of new theatre, comedy, and cabaret to a flashy restored venue in East London.

Soho Theatre is a charity and social enterprise with a history dating back to the early 1970s. They work to harness the creative spirit of talented artists while producing and co-producing new plays, often championing voices that think outside the box.

In 2025, the company celebrated the 25th anniversary of its original Soho venue by opening a second London theatre, this one much further east. Soho Theatre Walthamstow occupies a beautifully restored 1930s cinema, complete with multiple bars, brand-new studio spaces, and a Grade II-listed auditorium with a capacity of up to 960. The raked theatre is fitted with comfortable seats with expanded leg room and features state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and projection facilities.

Walking into the new theatre, guests are welcomed by a striking pastel-hued foyer with mirrored wallpaper, neon signage, and a magnificent mirrorball. Nods to the original 1930s design have been retained throughout the building, including restored chandeliers, Moorish motifs, and other lovingly updated details.

The programme at Soho Theatre Walthamstow features a wide range of exciting and thought-provoking shows by rising and established artists, making it a cultural destination with reach far beyond its immediate area.
